Who's behind it

I'm a teacher by day and a builder by night, hosting in eastern Ontario. Before WelcomeMAT I built Curricue, a planning tool for Ontario educators. The pattern is the same: people doing serious work, drowning in admin that nobody designed for them.

Ontario short-term rental hosts are in the same boat. The licence renewal, the $2M insurance certificate, the quarterly MAT remittance, the fire inspection, the septic pump-out — all real, all on different calendars, all with a fine attached if you miss one.

Why it exists

Because the alternative is a spreadsheet, a shoebox, and the dread of the bylaw email. WelcomeMAT is one quiet dashboard that knows your municipality's rules, watches your booking calendar, and tells you the one thing you need to do this week — instead of the forty things you could be doing.

What we promise

• Bylaws stay current. When your municipality changes a rule or a MAT rate, we update it — you don't have to read minutes from a council meeting.
• Your data is yours. Export everything as CSV any time. Cancel and walk away with a clean tax-year package.
• We're not your lawyer. We surface the requirements and remind you of deadlines. Always confirm with your municipality before relying on anything you read here.
