Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: May 7, 2026

This statement applies to getwelcomemat.ca and the WelcomeMAT web application, both operated by Obbema Labs.

Our Commitment

Obbema Labs is committed to ensuring our services are accessible to people with disabilities. We aim to conform with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This accessibility statement forms an integral part of our Terms of Service.

Accessibility Features

You should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 200% without loss of information or functionality;
  • Navigate the application with just a keyboard;
  • Use a screen reader to read page content and form labels;
  • Operate the bylaw checklist, calendar, and property dashboard with assistive technology.

Conformance Status

Status: Partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We conducted our most recent internal accessibility evaluation in May 2026. See the sections below on known limitations and how we test.

Non-Accessible Content

Below is a description of known limitations we're working to address:

  1. Generated PDF reports. The MAT remittance and bylaw compliance PDFs we generate may not include every semantic tag needed for optimal screen reader navigation. The on-screen versions of the same reports are fully accessible.
  2. Color contrast on some UI states. A small number of muted text, hover, and placeholder states may not meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio. We review and fix these incrementally.
  3. Custom interactive components. The unified calendar and the municipal bylaw checklist include custom interactions whose screen-reader announcements are less rich than standard HTML elements. We are progressively replacing these with fully accessible alternatives.

We are actively addressing these issues as part of an ongoing accessibility plan.

Preparation of This Statement

This statement was prepared on 7 May 2026 and is reviewed annually or when we make significant changes to the Services. We keep records of accessibility feedback and our responses.

How We Test

  • Ongoing monitoring and regular accessibility reviews;
  • Self-review and manual testing against WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria;
  • Keyboard-only navigation walkthroughs of core flows (signup, add property, MAT calculation, calendar);
  • Screen reader spot-checks using VoiceOver and NVDA.
